Comfort Inn & Suites Furniture: Suites, Accessible Rooms and Breakfast Areas

The words “& Suites” on your sign change the furniture order. A Comfort guest is usually a family on the road or a business traveler on a regular route, and when they book a suite they expect a place to sit that is not the bed. They also expect a breakfast area with enough seats at peak time, and a room that works for a guest who uses a wheelchair.

Those three areas are where a standard room package runs short, and they are the focus of this page. Coral Hotel Furniture supplies Comfort Inn & Suites furniture for suite living areas, accessible rooms, lobbies and breakfast spaces, alongside the regular guest room pieces. We have supplied hotel and hospitality furniture in the USA since 2012, and we build to the approved brand specification the owner provides.

Comfort concept

What the Comfort concept asks of a suite and a public space

Comfort sits in the upper midscale segment. Guests are not paying for luxury, but they do expect a fresh, bright room, a comfortable bed and a breakfast they do not have to leave the building for.

For an owner, consistency comes through the design scheme in the franchise documents. Current design schemes such as Rise and Shine set out finishes, furniture shapes and fabrics. Coral builds to whichever scheme your franchise documents specify, so whether your property follows the newest scheme or an earlier one, the starting point is the same: send us your approved specification.

Brand and franchise information comes from Choice itself, through its development team. Coral works from the documents you hold.

Suite and guest room furniture

Suite living area

The living area is what a guest pays the suite premium for. It normally needs a sofa, a low table, a side table with a lamp position and a second television location. A sleeper sofa is the usual choice because it lets a larger family use one suite instead of two rooms.

Pay attention to the divide between sleeping and sitting zones. Many suites use a half wall, a credenza or a desk unit to mark the line, and that piece has to look finished from both sides.

Bed wall

Suites and standard rooms share the same bed wall: headboard, bed base and nightstands. If that is all you need to replace, the piece by piece listings in our Comfort Inn collection are the faster route.

Storage

An open closet unit with a luggage bench, plus drawer storage in the dresser or credenza, keeps the living area clear.

Bathroom

Standard vanities are a base, a top and a mirror. Accessible rooms need a different vanity, covered in the next section.

Area furniture

Lobby and breakfast area furniture

Breakfast is a core part of the Comfort stay, so the breakfast area works harder than any other public space in the building. For a short window each morning nearly every guest passes through it.

Plan the seating as a mix. Small breakfast tables seat couples and solo travelers, a communal table absorbs groups and laptop users, and a few soft seats give overflow at the edges.

The lobby needs a reception desk, a small group of lounge chairs and somewhere to wait with luggage. Many properties let the lobby and breakfast area flow into each other, which means finishes must match. Everything here is in our lobby and breakfast furniture collection.

Materials and construction for busy family hotels

Children climb on sofas, breakfast spills happen daily and luggage carts clip every corner.

Laminate is the standard surface for casegoods and breakfast tables because it resists stains and scratches. Where your scheme includes a wood veneer accent, it should be sealed and kept away from the wettest surfaces. Edge banding needs to be thick and firmly bonded on tabletops in particular, since chair backs strike those edges all day.

Hardware should be commercial grade throughout, including the sleeper mechanism in the sofa. Serving counters and vanities sit in wet zones, so they need moisture resistant board and sealed edges.

For upholstery, choose fabrics or vinyls made for commercial use. Upholstered seating is widely specified to California’s TB 117-2013 standard, which is published by the Bureau of Household Goods and Services. Confirm what your specification and your local fire code require.

Accessible rooms and ADA furniture

Accessible rooms are easy to get wrong, because the furniture has to change while the room still looks like the rest of the hotel. Coral supplies ADA product versions in the same finishes as your standard rooms:

  • Beds: an ADA king platform bed built for accessible rooms.
  • Headboards: ADA headboards that suit the accessible bed.
  • Vanity: an accessible vanity with open space beneath the bowl.
  • Casegoods: desks, closet units and nightstands adjusted to your accessible room drawings.

Layout matters as much as the pieces. Clear floor space beside the bed and a usable route to the window and the bathroom depend on where each item sits. The rules are in the 2010 ADA Standards for Accessible Design. Your architect applies them to your floor plan, and we build to the plan. If you are unsure which of your rooms are affected, ask us and bring your PIP.
